Calculation examples
10 units on one number: a win earns 350 units profit and returns 360 units including the stake. On a standard single-zero wheel, the win probability is 1/37 (2.70%) and the house edge is 1/37 (2.70%).
10 units on red for 100 spins: total wagering is 1,000 units. On a standard single-zero table the mathematical expected loss is about 27.03 units; with la partage it is about 13.51 units. These are averages over many repetitions, not likely session results.
Assumptions and limits
- A fair wheel with equally likely pockets; 37 for single zero or 38 for double zero.
- One standard bet per spin, at a fixed stake, without fees, bonuses, progressions or overlapping bets.
- French mode applies la partage only to even-money bets: zero returns half the stake. Other French-mode bets use standard single-zero rules.
- En prison, surrender, multiplier payouts, jackpots, triple zero and nonstandard paytables are not modelled. Always check the actual table’s rules.
- The American basket has a higher edge than other standard double-zero bets.
Method: win probability = covered pockets ÷ total pockets. Profit on a win = stake × payout. Expected loss = total wagered × house edge. For la partage even-money bets, a zero counts as a half-stake loss.
